There is lot of tips offered on how to identify birds. During bird watching, you may find bird perching on top of the tall tree or
flying high in the sky or hopping at the far end of the river where you cannot reach. When you identify the bird that you are watching you must have lots of patience.

Identifying an unknown bird by their behavior is like solving a puzzle. All their behavior looks different from distance. For eg, by the glimpse of a small brownish bird on your lawn wagging its tail you will come to know that it is a Palm Warbler. Hawks, Falcons and Eagles have their own unique pattern of flapping and gliding and can be identified from a distance of 2-3 miles.

Identifying Birds With Their Songs

Identifying the birds by mere watching is really rejuvenating but to experience and identify the birds with their sweet songs is an unforgettable experience.

Their songs follow a fairly definite pattern. About half the species of birds, including perching species produces both calls and songs. The majority of other birds, including both water birds and birds of prey, call but do not sing. Pelicans and some kind of storks make no vocal sounds. Some of the birds songs are very sweat and soothing to ears where as some are not pleasing at all for eg. Ravens and Wax -wings simply repeat the same note. To human ears, the songs of birds sound similar, but each birds voice is different, and if you hear attentively and tune yourself to their songs, you can identify the birds by their sounds just as easily as you can by their shape or color.
