Bar Spacing
The bar spacing of the bird cage should be sufficiently tight to prevent small birds from escaping but not large enough that the bird may try anyway and get its head stuck resulting in injuries or even death. For larger birds, horizontal bars work better. The bird can use the bars for climbing and exercise and there's less chance of escape or injury.
